TRANSITIONAL FARMHOUSE

Imperative to this family, was bringing the outdoors in and expanding light into their home. We took a segmented kitchen, living and dining room and reimagined it by knocking out walls and closing up one side of a double sided fireplace. This allowed for more storage and a larger kitchen open to the dining and family room.

With my client’s request for a modern farmhouse look, we added black windows throughout the home with black and white cabinetry, accented by white oak and bright white walls. The living room fireplace is a modern display of smooth concrete, capped with a custom white oak mantle. Repeating the angled lines of the fireplace onto the entry floor with a two-toned marble herringbone pattern, the entry sets the tone for a modern interior with natural elements. Adding two large bi-fold doors in the living and family room created outdoor vistas, maximizing light and offering sightlines to the surrounding treelines that can be seen from any standing point in the kitchen, dining or living spaces.
